What to present to investors?

We meet with entrepreneurs even before they start looking for funding.  One of the questions that I get a lot is what shall I present to my potential investors?  Once I was told that angel investors are “emotional” and that they don’t really look for financial data on the investment.

While this may be true for some investors, I would still recommend entrepreneurs to prepare and share financial and fiance related data with their potential investors, regardless of the stage their investment.  This is not just to help your investors buy into your project, but also to ensure that everyone is on the same page.  I agree that angel and seed investors may have a more emotional approach at earlier stages as they are really investing in the team, probably more so than the idea itself.  But still, it’s an investment, and investments come with expectations.

We prepared a presentation guideline for investor meetings.  This may be too detailed depending on your investor audience, but preparing a presentation like this would help you also better understand your strengths and weaknesses and ultimately improve your pitch, even if you are making it to an emotional investor.
